Simão Vieira

Simão Pedro de Sousa Vieira, MBA, Degree in the field of Electrical Engineering with a post-graduation in Information Systems and Enterprise Engineering.

Started his professional career in a consulting company by 2000 and he has an extensive background in technology projects in Municipalities ans energy companies. He developed and operated a national telecommunications network in Rede Elétrica Nacional (Very High Voltage Electrical transmission operator of Portugal). From 2010 to 2019 he was responsible for developing digital transformation projects in the Cascais Municipality, from full datacenter migration to cloud environment (the first municipality in the country), to the implementation of the City Command Center, the development of an innovative MaaS solution called MobiCascais and the implementation of the first fully autonomous bus in Portugal, connecting NOVA SBE University and the railway station of Carcavelos.

Since May 2019 he is the ICT Project Manager of AVEIRO STEAM CITY Project, funded by Urban Innovative Actions, coordinating the implementation of several technological projects, like the Urban data platform, the fiber/5G experimental network and use cases in environment, energy (Electrification of Moliceiros boats) and mobility.

Abstract

ELECTRIFICATION OF TRADITIONAL “MOLICEIROS” BOATS USED FOR TOURISTIC VISITS IN THE URBAN WATER CANALS OF AVEIRO CITY

This paper presents the technical and governance challenges and actions carried out to plan and test in real operation the implementation of 10 electrical charging stations for 27 traditional wood moliceiros boats that operate in the water urban canals of Aveiro City and are currently powered by fossil fuel engines.
