Camila Garcia

Camila Garcia has a degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Transport Engineering from the Federal University of Ceará (Brazil) and a PhD in Transport Systems from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST-UL) of the University of Lisbon. She currently works as consultant on urban mobility and accessibility issues for Metropolitan Area of Lisbon and collaborates with CERIS-IST as a researcher. She is reviewer of conferences and journals publications and coordinator of the NIUMAR (Network on Intelligent Urban Mobility and Accessibility Research), a research network that promotes cooperation between Brazilian and European researchers.

Abstract

NAVEGANTE: THE NEW PUBLIC TRANSPORT TARIFF SYSTEM FOR THE LISBON METROPOLITAN AREA.

Aiming at the transition to sustainable mobility and attraction of new public transport (PT) passengers, the Lisbon Metropolitan Area set out a new tariff system, allowing a simplification of the monthly passes available and a significant reduction of their prices. This has induced a substantial increase on the demand of both passes and ridership.
